Joe Meno was born exactly (well, almost exactly) ten years after the opening of Disneyland, and wanted to become a designer for sci-fi movies. After attending North Carolina’s State University’s Design School (now Design College), he went into advertising, eventually becoming an Art Director at a pharmaceutical ad agency. After the agency folded, Joe eventually got back into the graphics field, but not before working at Walt Disney World for a year and also rekindling a hobby of LEGO building. From this hobby, Joe became an event coordinator for several LEGO fan conventions, including BrickFest 2006 in Virginia and BrickMagic in Raleigh and later Charlotte, North Carolina.
Joe also launched the LEGO fan magazine BrickJournal in 2005, the first of a few magazines about the LEGO hobby. He has also worked with LEGO on number of occasions, from set design to beta testing robotics sets. Other efforts include launching a FIRST LEGO League school program in Fuquay-Varina, where he is now a team mentor for the program.
